Hi all,

Went antiquing this morning and stumbled upon some interesting stuff! Picked this vase up.. Seems to be made of steel and then lacquered. I've attempted translation, but have come to a bit of a dead end.. this is where I'm at so far.

Hi,

First,I do not know artist names or history of this field.

The mei says:

Right line(date): 9th month,1799.(寛政十一歳未九月)

Left line (sign): 受真代 Substitute signature of Jushin.

The 3rd kanji means [substitute/proxy] .

Otherwise, the mei translation is also possible as " Received by Saneyo". :dunno:

I don't know which is good interpretation of the mei.
