stu c Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 HI, I HAVE THIS SET OF MENUKI ,I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE REPRESENTING & WHAT THAT OBJECT WAS USED FOR? THANKS, STU. Quote
IanB Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 Stu, They represent the rings that attach to the front and back of a saddle to which all the harness ties. Unusual subject indeed. Ian Bottomley Quote
stu c Posted October 2, 2012 Author Report Posted October 2, 2012 Thanks Ian ,I've had a bit of a search so are they called SHIODE? Stu Quote
John A Stuart Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 Shiode, part of the sougu is, I believe, correct. John Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 The horsey word "Shiode" is how they ended up being pronounced, but originally they were shi-ho = four directions + te = hands (handles). Unusual design for Menuki, as Ian says. Quote
