pcfarrar Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 Hi, Can anyone help me with a partial translation of my WW2 flag. I'd particularly like to know what it says around the octapus? Thanks, Peter Quote
Nobody Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 It says something like this. "Have a drink. I wish you health." from 善布坊 (Zenfu-bo, or Yoshinobu-bo???......seems art name) タコ (octopus) 一杯やる, 元気で......善布坊 (善有坊???) Quote
pcfarrar Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 Thanks again for your help Moriyama san. Would the name Zenfu-bo or Yoshinobu-bo be a priests name perhaps? Also could you confirm I've got the date right at 1942? Thanks, Peter Quote
Nobody Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 The date is 昭和拾四年十二月 (= Dec. in 1939). As for the name, I am unsure but I think that it could be an art name or a nickname of a colleague. Quote
pcfarrar Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Posted May 8, 2007 Thank you again Moriyama San! Do you have any idea what the gate and house with flag in the bottom left of the flag represent? Quote
Nobody Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 No, I do not have any idea. I think that it is not a specific structure but only an image. Just my thought. Quote
