george trotter Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Interesting stuff Henry....those long traditions. I have never seen Noh live. I saw one of the Ichikawas do Kabuki in Tokyo in 1980 and I saw Bunraku in Osaka that same year. I saw the stage for Noh at Hiroshima (was it at Etajima?) where the emperor/shogun would watch the play from the pavilion as the stage "floated on the tide" in front of him....great stuff! Love the women's eyebrows on the Noh masks. Maybe one day.... Thanks for sharing. Reagards, Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Morning all You may find this link interesting (I have spent many hours on it and always find something new and exciting). http://www.the-noh.com/ Cheers Quote
cabowen Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 I went to a Noh play once and found the Kyogen much more to my taste. I slept through a great portion of the Noh play and can say honestly it is an acquired taste that I was never able to appreciate... Quote
