  5. If that is the case, then it will surely be the story of the ambush of yoritomo, with the guys trying to pull him from his horse (have a ukyo-e of that one) however i dont see any MON on the big cheese... KM
  6. Me thinks it is the big cheeses army! dont think the Hojo things are sashimono, but archer shields. not very useful in an ambush. more like: Dono, your troops are ready, the battle line is straight, we have the upper hand. or sth like that.........but then in classical Japanese of course KM
  7. crude cast but looks nice... wether or not its real ill let other connaisseurs decide... KM

  16. Hey peter that one looks fine to me! i have put it on my watch list. curiousss what it will make in the end. 60 squids ya say? my my!! by the way, I am trying to convert an old forged theatre sword (charlottenburg, 1810) i got for free some time ago into a Japanese "Yari" kinda type spear..... just not sure yet if the blade shape could be allright for a long samurai spear... its for re-enactment mind you.... might even cover it in clay and fire it up in my kiln to see wether i get a hamon hahahaha....... what do you think... could it pass off as a shape the Japanese might have used? i also plan to take some metal off the part near the tang... getting more of a \ / shape...... here are some images... so.... what do you think? possible?? KM
  17. thank you for the info David!! its is true that the pics i received and posted are not that great... will have to see with my own eyes what range it might be in... anyway as a first it looks allright to me.... even when gendaito... probably will chuck the mountings anyway.... just a bit worried about that riveted metal thingie to keep the tsuka straight.... as long as i dont come home with the Chinese baka na kuso stuff i am okay with it... KM

  21. By the way, about Nakago.... i found a yari auction with shortened nakago, and if i win it i'd like a smith putting an extension onto the thing.... to make it into a pole yari again is that ever done? are there known examples of shortened nakagos even with swords, which were lengthened by (contemporary) smiths??
