I would like to cast Keanu Reeves for my upcoming movie, the battles of Coxinga. KM Twilight samurai is one of the best films i have ever seen on the Samurai world, it is right up there with Seppuku, Ganzo the spearman and assasin.

Most welcome, couldnt write down all smiths etc but a lot of bizen work. ages of swords ranging from one 14th century sword to modern day, but most around 1670 and up. KM

For three days the Museum Siebold Huis in Leiden (Netherlands) has a few swords on display. here are some pictured of the exhibit i took today, enjoy them. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=7 ... 89e0918821 Also brought in my gunto Masayuki gimei, indeed gimei, not too old, but an early 1930's hand forged sword, good condition, the Japanese experts there were amused because of the signature, and were very interested to see all seppa were number equal. they liked the silver habaki and the blade too as well as the good quality tsuba which in combination with the blade told them it was indeed an early one. However they advised me not to go to a togishi in Japan since usually they refuse to polish gunto. I did not get their names sorry to say. a very nice and helpful older man with glasses (Hashimoto ?) and a younger guy in his twenties. Also, on seeing the minuscule nick in the blades upper side they shouted out oooh Kita ! the straight lined small kizu ware was a sign it was hand made according to them. the only downside was that the aluminum koshirae did not retain its paint. all in all a great day !! Sorry........ I misread certain words in one of Ian's postings on guns.......several of them.... KM Interesting story by the way! so this developed after the match lock guns with the box system to keep rain away were discontinued? I sort of remember reading in one of dr. Stephen Turnbull's books that only when Meiji started, more modern guns were imported, and that the Dutch had already traded some to the Choshu samurai and Japanese officials who secretly bought them were ordered to commit Seppuku after which the weapons were impounded by the Shogunate... (dont remember which of his many books i read that in though...) Because if you are lucky, and if the leather is not glued on, the entire saya is covered in black rayskin, which greatly adds and enhances the sword... KM

Very nice sword indeed, could also have been used during the Meiji transition, worth a polish, and very interesting for shinsa i think KM
