  1. Hi, sorry Brian, wasn’t sure where to put this. I have been given the option on these arrows. They are unusually in thst they are much shorter that a regular arrow. There are 22 arrows measuring 63cm and 2 sukashi measuring just over 66cm. They could be Edp period, i believe that stand is not orignal to these arrows. Condiition varies. There is one photo where i put one up against a regular arrow. What I need to know is 1. Did they have smaller sets of arrows for indoor use? 2 Are they simply a boys day set? Regards and thanks Mark
  2. Thanks Ian, when I checked the length I thought the same but I didn’t know the Japanese word for it. Appreciate your input. Mark
  3. Hi Geraint. Thanks. Always reluctact to buy from Yahoo but this seemed a must have. Always wanted a socket yari and have waited until the right one came along. Not large, nagasa of 11.4cm. Overall length without saya is 138cm. I really like the koshirae too. I might put the blade into shinsa, not sure it is worthwhile. Mark
  4. Thanks Matt. Much appreciated. Never seen Suzuki in a mei before. Mark
  5. Hi. I bought this little yari and would like some translation asssitance please. I’m off staying with my father and no books with me. Thanks in advance. Mark
  6. Today we enjoyed meeting up with fellow collectors at the display. It was a pleasure to meet some new faces, like minded enthusiasts, so our circle grows. For those who couldn’t make it, see you next time. Mark
  7. Thanks for the info. Yes...even though I don’t know anything about them or how to date it, it does look nice quality. I like the way at the high points the lacquer has gotten a red pigment showing, which I think developes with age. I will take some pics of the bow tomorrow. Cheers
  8. Hi all. I have acquired a Japanese bow and would like help with the translation of kanji on it. Much appreciated. Mark

  15. Oh dear....I was reading mori as kami which if it was kami would precede fujiwara. There is something about drinking wine and reading mei that don’t to together. Thanks.
  16. I am seeking some assistance with this mei. Regrettably the last kanji may never be known. The 1st kanji of his name is in poor condition and my eyes are so strained. The province has me scrstching my head too. Any help would be appreciated. Mark
  17. Hi Curran. Your compliments are always appreciated. Only after a couple of days this display is a huge hit, the feedback has been great. This will run for about 4 months. Why not come to Melbourne for a holiday? The hospitality will be 1st class.
  18. Hi. Well we have installed another display here in Melbourne. It is a small display but nice swords and fittings are there for the publics enjoyement. I will attached more detailed photos and descriptions of what’s on display later. Again Colin has done a great job. Interestingly the display is at the Box Hill Returned Servicemas League or RSL. They are a progressive club and are interested in Swords As Art theme. Melbourne collectors go and check it out. As with all such clubs you need to sign in. It has a nice restaurant attached too, so maybe you can include lunch. Colin or I would be happy to meet any members of the message board at the RSL to discuss the display. Cheers https://g.co/kgs/gxgK75

Ok so this dealer describes it as Kyoraku Meisho which is see means Famous Places in Kyoto. A long shot could be Hirosawa Pond. So, these could have been sold as momentos to people making the journey to this place. Oh well... as good a guess as anything. Mark
