I began training in Kendo in 1962, and started Iaido and Jodo in 1979. I hold Nanadan in all three arts but at 78 my health does not permit extreme training anymore. I lived and worked in Japan for four and a half years and studied Japanese at Waseda University . I have made over forty visits to Japan in pursuit of my martial art training and the study of Japanese lacquer work. I am co-author of "The Arms and Armour of the Samurai " with Ian Bottomley - late of the Tower Armouries, Leeds .
