  1. @KaruIt seems that at least this time no... I took it as a bit of a joke thinking that the price would dishearten any newbie... now I feel more at ease.
  2. Hi, I was thinking of starting a new topic but since there is already one with the same title (although somewhat old...) I preferred to include a new post. Surfing the internet I found what I think is snakeskin in a kaigunto for sell. Addtional info: Theoretically the blade (Kiyonobu Okumura) is from 1940, although there are no photos of that side of the nakago to confirm the date. Any thoughts? Can you help me confirm the type of skin? I have searched the forum but have not found anything quite similar. Thank you, Mario
  3. Hi, I was visiting the page Alban indicated out of curiosity and can't resist sharing a different seller's response when asked by one user to show the nakago of what I would consider (as a newbie) a more than dubious Type 94. "Hello, is it possible to have it dismantled? Sincerely" "Hello, once purchased you can take it apart as many times as you like. " Finally, he has ended up uploading a photo.... https://www.naturabuy.fr/shin-gunto-officier-superieur-japonais-lame-damas-tsuba-garnitures-samourai-haute-qualite-item-9320273.html Price: 5 850,00 €
  4. Thanks to everyone for your answers!. I will continue to study and keep my eyes open for new examples to confirm the hypotheses (I would love to become a contributor to Bruce's register ). @Bruce Pennington Thomas included the link to your old comment in an earlier post in this thread. I attach it anyway. https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/33862-murata-swords-村田刀/page/2/#comment-361793
  5. @Kiipu Exactly!. Nidai Minamoto Yoshichika. It seems that we have the 6 and 14 localized....But what is the theory about this... I have not yet read the book (I received it today) and in German, which will take me more time. But I don't know if it will contribute anything in this regard.
  6. Hi, The Suya Sho Then logo presented on page 73 of Otto Maxein's book "Samurai swords for the Material battle" is identical to that of the Type 95, although in this case on the nakago of a gendaito with a Type 98 mount. Mario
  7. Thanks Bruce . Very interesting document, Thomas. This is consistent with the quality of the sayas and that in one case that I was able to check, the saya under the haikan is not lacquered.
  8. Hi James, In this excellent website you can see how your sword would look like with the leather cover. http://ohmura-study.net/727.html If you browse it you can also find equivalent fittings to yours and in general great information on this subject. Questions to more versed members: Can it be concluded that this is an end-of-war example, based on the absence of engraving on the fuchi, etc? I thought that the use of a glossy lacquered saya indicated the reuse of a civilian saya and probably a traditionally made blade...but I don't know if this is correct. It seems that it is not... I hope the answers are of interest to James, otherwise it will look like I'm hijacking his thread. Regards
  9. Hi, It seems that the seller was referring to the kuchigane. It seems that it was replaced by one of the Type 98. If during the war or recently I understand it is impossible to confirm. Jim, in this other Ohmura page (which complements the one Rob indicated) you can check the differences between both kuchigane directly, being the correct one iron and black paint (matching with the rest of the fittings). http://ohmura-study.net/905.html Regards
