  1. Greetings, Would it be possible to obtain the papering guidelines for the NBTHK. I know different tiers have different criterion and the higher up you go the more stringent they get. This is for educational purposes and it could benefit other members that are new to the papering process as well. Thanks, Khalid
  2. I would want a very skilled polisher to look at it first. It's old and looks ubu to me.
  3. I soaked it with oil and let the crud break free overnight then wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. I think there's dried oil inside of the habaki.
  4. Greetings, I finished cleaning and wiped down the wakizashi. I couldn't get the crud of the habaki and it's stuck in place. Feel free to let me know how I did. Best, Khalid
  5. I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone that has taken a look at this sword for me. It came home with me today. I'll try to take some really nice photos of it once it's cleaned.
  6. Is this reference correct? https://nihontoclub.com/smiths/NOR84
  7. I would like to ask a couple of educational questions: 1) What is "old Hiro" indicative of? (I presume the kanji character changed.) 2) What does "Sagami no Kami" mean? Also I attached an inverted photo of the first mei.
  8. Greetings, I am looking at this sword (in person) with two smith signatures. One is slightly obstructed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Khalid
  9. I feel as though the condition reflects the price and brokerage. I bought a book from AOI in the past and they were very polite and easy to deal with. If this Masamune was indeed juyo grade it would not be at this price point. I question the need to offer this sword to the general public though. Do we know what generation Masamune this is?
  10. Greetings everyone, It's been a little while now since I got involved with Nihonto and wanted to discuss with you a dilemma I'm having. I want to have a "Nihonto Exhibit" at home. How do I start? I'm not new to the collecting world as I've been a collector of various things for the majority of my life (I'm 30 now). But I've come to appreciate the artistic aspect of Nihonto. I'm also currently attending a posh liberal arts school in the New England area, and we have a museum at school with rotating exhibits. (The source of this urge.) Sincerely, Khalid

  12. Greetings everyone, I am planning on bidding on this sword in an upcoming auction but can't seem to get clear pictures of the signature from the auction house. To me it currently looks like a Bizen blade which is my favorite school but there's no telling how it would look cleaned up. Any ideas on the signature and how do you feel about its condition? Thanks, Khalid
  13. Hi guys, I just walked of a auction gallery and they have this sword for sale. Any idea who it's by? Hopefully it's not a fake signature again. Khalid
  14. It's rusty with spider webbing.
