  10. Interesting. I will have to bring this up with him, he had shown me some beautiful true san mai katana that he had made. Said they went to Japan. Guy is pretty skilled and a true craftsman. Not sure if he would be comfortable with me mentioning his website on here. Anyhow he had asked me for a few ideas for different styles of hapanese blades.
  11. Rokujuro , Thank you so very much for your reply. The task will be perfect for my buddy. All of his blades end up going to Japan anyways, and they are of very high quality. We just need dimensions and measurements, May I ask would you be able to send me some pictures possibly? That way I can get a look at the beveling and the edges the Contours etc
  12. Guys my Buddy has asked me for some help with a project on Japanese blades. Our first project would be a naginata blade. My question is can anyone give me measurements of the naginata? I would need measirements of thickness of mune , hi etc. Maybe a few pictures of beveled edges etc
  13. Steve M, thank you so very much for your reply. I was curious to see what they said on them. I suppose the kanji looks legitimate, as to the construction of the flags being silk, and how they are constructed i am still unsure of,. Here are more pictures
  14. Guys I had met a collector of World War II Japanese flags, before I commit to a purchase I would like to know if the signatures on these flags read out to anything legitimate such as names or dates possibly places. I have read stories of people scribbling kanji onto flags and showing them to people who don't know what it reads or means. Can you guys tell me if this kanji actually reads out to anything? Any help is always greatly appreciated

  21. Guys can I have some help with the translation of this mei? I am to go look at this blade today. A war bringback shirasaya
  22. Yes Peter I would love to find good reference material I prefer books rather than Electronics. If a computer goes out or an electronical device I would have no way to look at anything at all. Reference material is one of the best things to be armed with, I really have had no clue of where to get any books on the subject. I'm glad you have made that apparent. I have learned the word gimei and it seems to be a term thrown around when collectors are unsure of or cannot verify themselves personally that a swordsmiths signature is authentic or not...Then we hear about papers and verification process yada yada
  23. Guys thanks fornthe replies. I will be checking the blade out in person in an hour or so and will show more pictures. Iam unsure what to offer.
  24. Surfson , thank you very much. May i ask when this blade may have been made etc?
  25. Is hawley a book for reference? Or website?
