  1. Like the title says, looking for f/k, something similar to these, which I owned once before I sold like a buffoon :D Need them for a personal mount, no looking to go "too" expensive lol Thanks! -Sal'
  2. Hello, I don't post on here often enough, but I feel my life has been truly enriched by Ford and the work he does, and how always willing he is to share all of his knowledge. I want to know if there is a paypal address or other method that would be preferred if we want to donate to Ford and his family to show our support through more than just words. Thanks, Sal'
  3. Thanks John! Also any help on the saya or any info on the blade at all would help Cheers, Sal
  4. Here is one that I just seen in person and snapped some quick pictures of, really might want to try and pick this up but wanted to find out more about it first Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks! Sal'
  5. SOLD! Thanks everyone, all of you that did your own research, and those of you that just had "magical" knowledge of this stuff, and thankfully posted what you knew for me, I really appreciate it! Cheers, Sal'
  6. It very well may be nihonto, but I have no good translation or history on the blade, and did not want to list it as such without knowing for certain. The blade seems well done and traditionally made, and if it was made from a well known smith in the current mounts the price would probably be considerably higher And Frank, off hand the menuki were made of copper I believe Thanks, Sal'
  7. Hello Brian I only say it's not Nihonto because of the lack of age on the nakago, but I have not done any research into the blade, or translated the mei :/ If I were to guess it was made in the last 30 years.
  8. Up for sale is one of my most recent projects. It's a Japanese o-tanto (Long enough so tech a short wakizashi) with just over 14 inch nagasa and about 20 inch over all including habaki and tsuka. It features a traditionally done kesho polish which is still in about 98% good shape. Blade has a very stout and sturdy feel in the hand and should make a nice cutter if you so choose it. Blade is signed but I have not had it translated, feel free to chime in if you can This is not a nihonto so if need be feel free to take down this sale page if you feel this does not belong here I custom made everything on this project with exception of the well executed habaki which was done by Wally Hostetter. All buffalo horn was hand carved and polished by me including the Kaeshizuno, nothing was store bought. Tsuka was carved by me and features high grade samegawa from namikawa, elegant shaping, and very nice antique dragon themed menuki. Saya was hand carved by me and blade is held snugly with zero rattle or movement in the saya but can be broken free with just a push of the thumb. Saya finish was done by me in a form of tsugaru-nuri which is a multi-layer finish that is almost never seen anymore on newer blades, specially not at this price point. I plan on making this finish my"signature" Price is $SOLD. If using Paypal you can send as a gift or add the 3% Cheers, Sal' of Jizamurai Customs
  9. I'll be going, i've been trying to make it to at least one show a year
  10. Hello everyone! I was thoroughly appreciative of the chance to work on this project, and I see every project as a learning opportunity as no two projects are exactly alike Stephen is also great to deal with! Indeed I had some obstacles from the start; a tsuka that was not originally fit for the nakago, fuchi and kashira that were not originally fit for the tsuka, and the spacing of the ito and ultimately the length of the tsuka determined by the original fuchi. This all culminated in spacing towards the end that was less than satisfactory. The ito needed to be relaxed enough for it to end on the proper side, yet tight enough to be secure. Pulled too tight and it simply would have reversed the side of the knots completely. Constructing a new tsuka core and proper fit and placement of everything is one thing. I attached a photo of a build I did for a customer where I built a new core and new full wrap of samegawa, predetermined spacing and major planning is key. Also uploaded is a wrap I did where the fuchi and kashira are original to the specific tsuka and again the results speak for themselves. Being able to make slight modifications here and there to make things come together that was never intended to do so (mismatching components) is an art in it's own right though, one I am still learning :D It takes more than just proper hishigami and measurements, it's a type of art that takes skill and time to hone the right kind of judgement calls needed to make the end result appealing to the eye and yet still functional. I'm humble for every opportunity that I get, I love this work and never plan to stop learning Sincerely, Sal'
  11. Yupp he's right! Price lowered to $1075 shipped! it just needs the tsuba tightened a tad and some light work to the saya to make it "finished". Saya is serviceable now and is exactly as shown in pictures, I was just experimenting with a new ishimi material for the finish and didnt give it my full attention
  12. Hey folks, this really needs to go ASAP, today is preferred! Price lowered to $1600 Shipped CONUS! I'm eating cost at this price folks it literally can't go any lower lol Partial trades still considered with at least $1000 down, what you trade is your choice, could be swords or other weapons, old or new/production, and koshirae Cheers, Sal'
  13. If this is not a place for this please just take it down For sale is a custom Japanese style Gimei katana in kesho polish with 32 inch nagasa . Main computer is down from Irma, it fried my mother board, along with other incurred expenses, forcing me to put up a few projects a bit early to cover some expenses. I've got one of komonjo's blades, a rather large one with over a 32 inch nagasa that I did all the mounting for. The handle is 11.5, I Balanced it well with one of Fred Lohmans largest dragon tsuba, and complemented it with some nice Dragon fuchi and kashira from fred as well. Menuki are also a nicer grade in dragon and ken theme, and the tsuka is finished in a nice wine coloured Japanese silk ito. I custom made some coin edged copper seppa, and made a new saya in a basic black ishime finish. The samegawa is a VERY rare and hard to find star style samegawa with large nodes all over that resemble stars! This was also applied in a full wrap to make this blade better suited for cutting. This blade has some LIGHT hazing of rust near the end of the monouchi which I wasnt able to capture in any photos yet, but at this price I wanted to mention. I'll attempt to get photos of that soon as well. Many of these pictures were just taken really quick while at work so excuse the poor quality and angles, i also have more pictures of the blade I'll upload in just a little bit. Price is $2000 USD Shipped CONUS OBO, also able to accept half in cash and the rest in trades. Also willing and able to ship worldwide at extra cost. Extremely motivated to get this out! I can change the colour of the saya for just an extra $100 on request to any other basic finish. Also having a hard time getting/sending messages, so if I don't respond on here you can reach me on my cell, 954-589-7228 Cheers, Sal'
  14. Trial and error with a few days of tinkering between light mixtures of black lacquer in a 1/41/5 type ratio, diluted shellac,( put on mut dabbed off just a little so it's not too shiny) as well as the skin gets light baths in coffee before it's molded to the tsuka. I've also literally thrown dirt on it before the wrap Polishing it with a padded 800+ grit padded sanding to help simulate things rubbing over the higher nodes over time. It can take a day or two to get right on each tsuka sometimes as each skin reacts slightly different each time, maybe due to slight thickness differences? Thanks again guys! Cheers, Sal'
  15. Well I ended up purchasing it from him for his starting price. I'll have it at the Tampa sword show coming up most likely. Afterwards I'll put it back up for sale on here and ship world wide. And thanks for the kind remarks about my tsuka work, I'm just glad I was able to do the koshirae justice Cheers and thanks again guys! Sal'
  16. This one only has five hours left! Does anyone know why there might not be any bidders yet? Is it just because it's mumei and o-suriage? Cheers, Sal'
  17. Another one of my previous mounts has gone up for sale while my friend is still down on his luck. Mumei and o-suriage, this blade has a good weight to it! This customer used the koshirae that I was selling on here a while ago to use when I mounted this for him. Wally Hostetter re lacquered the saya in a nice simple black. to freshen things up. I made a new tsuka and used a high grade samegawa from namikawa in a full wrap which I then antiqued to look old, and a simple black silk for the tsuka-maki. Used bambo themed koshirae and i believe shishi dog menuki. I think this would definitely look great with a fresh polish I see a lot of potential for the blade under that old polish. Nagasa: 67.0 cm. Sori: 1.8 cm. Moto-haba: 3.2 cm. Saki-haba: 2.4 cm. Moto-gasane: 0.7 cm. Saki-gasane: 0.5 cm. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252727262741?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649&autorefresh=true He set the auction as no reserve, I placed a starting bid. As you can tell from the last blade he put up someone got one heck of a steal! He will only ship to US and Canada, but if there are others who wish to bid, I will more than gladly act as an intermediary, have him ship the blade to me, and then ship the blade for him to your location for only the cost of the shipping I incur. Good luck everyone! Cheers, Sal'
  18. Even with unknown origin, the blades komonjo sells often go for the price this sold for, as a un mounted blade. This might be a blade to some people that is worth appreciating because of its unique look, and to others, a fun, higher quality blade than they are probably used to for cutting I can't speak of its origin, but I can say by holding it in hand that it was FAR better than any bugei/hanwei blade that i have held that often sell for the same price... I don't think they were any false pretenses on his part, it was I that mentioned shinsakuto as I was rushing to post here on my way to bed, but his ebay sale makes no mention of the word My fault Apologies Cheers, Sal'
