Hi,

I found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251041513179

Short yari (Nagasa 11cm), signed and dated 1857. Polish looks reasonable. But I'm not that experienced when it comes to yari...

What is your opinion? Authentic? Quality? Price? (price is of course "worth what you're willing to pay", but is it generally speaking too expensive or too cheap?)

Thanks.

Dear Tobias,

In the past as a rule people have been discouraged to comment on live auctions, as you rightly say the value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it and it would be unfortunate if an ill advised comment here or on other message boards had an unrerasonable influence on a live sale.

The piece looks as described with regard to condition. I cannot comment on its authenticity (i.e. the mei) but the smith is not so well known as to be a target for forgery so I would guess there is a good chance it is what it claims to be.

but as far as I know this shape is not called SASAHO YARI but SANKAKU YARI.

Thank you Jean but I didnt say the nomenclature was right I said accurate with regard to condition. having said that I wouldnt have known what it was called without looking it up :(
