Hi all

I would like to ask your opinion of this sword. http://www.ebay.com/itm/270999391569

I've tried to judge the age by myself but can't decide what to think. The boshi follows the Hamon wich would indicate Koto but on the other hand the sugata make me think Shinto. What's your opinion? In picture number 21 a small kizu is shown. Also would $1500 be a fair price to pay? Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Daniel

HI, i dont think this is koto. You dont say how long it is but the overall blade doesnt appear to be shortened. Looks ubu to me.

my guess would be Shinto to later. Price is what someone is willing to pay for it. I cant say if $1500 is fair or not. Not enough info on it for me.

I shall add that I have bought the sword. The seller encouraged me to show it to an experienced collector and also gave me a written refund guarantee if I decides to return it.

So feel free to express your opinions positive and negative.

Best Regards

I would think Shinto based on the shallow sori, the full boshi, the hamon and jigane.

The hamon has togari and sanbonsugi like elements which would lead me to believe it is a Seki or Seki derivative- Echizen, Owari, etc....

Not a bad sword for $1500....

Id agree with Echizen Seki Edo Shinto as i have a Hirotaka Echizen katana with identical hamon, hada and mihaba and kasane. Wouldnt be surprised if it were a mumei Hirotaka katana.

Kind regards,

A big thank you guys. Well there seems to be a consensus of the blade being Shinto. Do you think it's early, middle or late Shinto.

Thanks

Daniel
