Bruno Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Hi all, I was looking at Ebay and saw this tanto. To be clear, I am not interested in buying it. This is this unusual nakago that surprised me. Is it common to find such shape? Does it have a name or is it a shortened wakizashi? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Tanto- ... 3a7023132d Thanks Quote
cabowen Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 You see these sometimes on the cheap tanto made for souvenirs. This one is bad by even those standards.... Quote
Bruno Posted February 9, 2012 Author Report Posted February 9, 2012 OK so not a great tanto then, at least the nakago looks good and price fair. Thanks Quote
Marius Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 OK so not a great tanto then, at least the nakago looks good and price fair. Bruno, sorry, but this is an object which does not even deserve the apellation "tanto" and the nakago is a joke. If you want an expensive kitchen knife, I would still recommend something else... e.g. a... kitchen knife? As a beginner, please start at the beginning. Buy a few books, read the basic stuff like this: http://www.jssus.org/nkp/fake_japanese_swords.html Do not buy a sword first. Read, read, learn, etc... Quote
Brian Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Bruno is far, far from a beginner. So it's surprising that you didn't see past this one Bruno. Let's blame it on a rough night out with the guys maybe? Yeah..this one is junk..fake hamon, probably all fake. I don't think it's even a low class WW2 dagger. Brian Quote
Marius Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Dear Bruno, please accept my apologies Quote
