If this is a wakizashi, looks like it, the signature may be truncated for fit, not uncommon, although if a katana, it could be signed this way legitimately, so you need to see more examples to conclude either way. John

Thanks John... I didn't know that was done for esthetics on a wakizashi which this is. Not sure where to find examples of Wak from this smith?I've searched the net but only found katana.

There are significant differences in they way this sword is signed above and beyond it's form. I am not confidant in this one being correct, but, you would need an expert opinion. John

Hi,

I agree with Jaques, the signature of the wakizashi looks weak and disorted.

I attached a foto of a blade I once owned. Look at the strenght of the mei!
