Hello all,

Was hoping on some help or information about a so called Japanese officers sword. I am read a bit and am slightly confused if it is traditionally made, or not such as oil quenched(this causes higher peaks in the hamon??) and if it is thought to be original, lastly is it good to send these swords to shinsa or not. I appreciate the info.

Thanks TJ

TJ (you need to sign with at least a first name. This is mandatory)

The blade has a "Sho" stamp, which means it is 99% likely it isn't traditionally forged or made, and is likely an oil quenched Showato. Therefore it would not pass shinsa. Genuine WW2 sword, but not traditionally made.
