OwlsNest Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Hello this is my first time on here im a new collector of sorts. I tend to purchase ancient artifacts usually Greek or Assyrian. I recently (last 3 years) started purchasing Japanese artifacts, I have two swords i know little about and heard this forum was very knowledgeable in period pieces and swords. I took some photos of the one i know the least about in hopes of someone being able to translate and possibly give me more info on it. Thanks any info would be appreciated. Quote
Justin Grant Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 I am sorry to say that these look like modern Chinese fake reporductions. I would look here http://jssus.org/nkp/fake_japanese_swords.html for help on how to identify real swords. I may be wrong, hope I am. Quote

OwlsNest Posted June 6, 2011 Author Report Posted June 6, 2011 this one kinda fell in my lap, so if it is fake im out nothing, luckily my other sword I DID spend money on is real and has been appraised as a Authentic pre WW2 officers katana. The blade quality on this one is what made me think fake.Anyone know what the sword says? Quote
drbvac Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 This sword may say nothing other than it has characters on it and a chrysanthemum mon but this is a really odd place for characters anyway - do you have pictures of the "real sword" Quote
