Putu Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Hello If you are able to help that would be very good thank you. I have a Japanese WW2 naval sword. I think the mei reads "Yuki Satoshi", am I correct (I know it is not some master blade)? Also, can anyone identify for me the odd stamping just under the anchor? Thank you Suci Quote
Kiipu Posted October 14, 2021 Report Posted October 14, 2021 @Putu The arrow in your picture is pointing to the kanji character 伊. This is not unusual for this swordsmith. 伊奈波 = Inaba. Stamp Alert! @Bruce Pennington 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 15, 2021 Report Posted October 15, 2021 I have seen both Inaba and Inanami translations for this smith, but Inaba seems to have the majority vote. The second stamp is unique to him, so it must be something like a kao or logo. I have a small number of other such unique marks found under Toyokawa anchor stamps. Not widespread, so I'm guessing it's like a personal trademark or something. Quote
