Can anyone provide any assistance with this mei?

I think its signed Hi Han Toya Enju Kunihide and dated 1820? Assuming I'm correct I have no idea what the Hi Han Toya means?

I also can't find much information on the smith apart from the the Hawleys entry so anything anyone has would be useful.

Seems to be a good quality sword.

Thanks,

Peter

Indeed nice sword,

Student of Suishinshi Masahide - studied in Edo and then returned to work in Higo his home province. Would love to see more of that blade...

Thanks for the help so far!

What does the word Toya actually mean?

Also Is this smith KUN 112 in Hawleys or KUN 113?

The date of 1820 would seem to suggest KUN 112 the student of Masahide. However the smith signing Hi-han toya (KUN 113) has a date of 1848-64. :?:

Hi,

look for the san dai of this line and I think you'll find a good match.

Yes, i saw it this morning, but in this case he is not the student of Shuishinshi Masahide....
