malyutkaman Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Just joined the forum and thought a good first post would be to see if anyone could identify my latest purchase. It looks to be arsenal made (non-traditional). Also, not visible in the photo, seems to be a seki stamp but it's hard to read. I collect militaria and am interested in the sword as a piece of history, in other words I'm not under the impression that I've got a "one only super ninja sword" that's worth a million dollars , just trying to find out a little about it's history. Thanks, Rich Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 This is a non-traditionally made showa (WWII era) sword made by a sword smith named 清宮 - Kiyomiya (Mei or 'signature' found on your sword is 野口清宮), who was a swordsmith working in Seki. Family name is 野口 (google translate says is translates to Noguti, but I am not confident in the translation). I'm sure if I am wrong on the family name, someone can correct me. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 How about Kiyotaka for the smith's name? Grey Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Chris, What is the family name? Quote
malyutkaman Posted October 7, 2010 Author Report Posted October 7, 2010 Thanks for the info, found some refrences on a Kiyomiya Noguchi (real name: Toru Noguchi) working in Seki about 1935. Also, does anyone know what the painted inscription is on the other side? Once again thanks for the help, this forum is a wealth of information. I'm already planning for my next purchases (NCO sword, and Traditionally made officers sword) I'll need some guidance for the latter. Quote
