Fritz Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Gentleman, I hope all is well. Been awhile since my last post but found a sword today, right out of the woodwork and in its storage case(WW2 vet bring back) need some help with the translation, the one end is covered with what looks like mud but could be rust but I'm extremely reluctant to clean it to read. Anyone offer some assistance, thoughts on translation and care of the tang. Thanks Fritz Quote
Stephen Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 The Standard, Bishu Osafune Sukesada saku if it has bubbly rust just some light tapping then oiling no hard rubbing Quote
Fritz Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Here are some additional pictures, one of the tip and the other of the temper. The cutting edge measures 27.25inches and from tip to tang end is 35.5 inches, the thickness at the tang is 3/8 of an inch. Fritz Quote
