tagonagy Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 From http://www.samuraisam.net Samurai Sam's polish is made from petroleum distillates. This polish has no abraisives, it will not scratch or damage any part of the blade. It will not damage the hamom or temper line. It will wipe off most surface rust with just one or two applications. This polish cleans the blade back to the original metal by removing old dried up oil, dirt, film and fingerprints. It WILL NOT repair damage to the blade caused by corrosion or rust pitting the metal or scratches in the metal. Only a qualified sword polisher can repair damage to the metal. When you are done the polish leaves its own protective film that protects the blade from moisture and other contaminates. This film is invisible but can be removed by applying uchi powder or pure grain alcohol to the blade and wiping it off. 4 oz will clean over a dozen blades. A little goes a long way. For repair problems contact us and we can help you find help. Has anyone used this stuff? On either a Nihonto or a modern production blade? Quote
drbvac Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 I would want to REALLY know what it is before putting it on anything ! Alcohol or lighter fluid on something covered with grease maybe but I would be VERY careful Quote
