Guest Simon Rowson Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Hi Stephen, About a year ago, before I left England, I twice shut down fraudulent eBay auctions of the same Iwa Jima general's shin-gunto with Gassan blade that had sold for big bucks a few months earlier. Some little sh**head in Scotland (with a 0 rating on eBay)had copied the entire description and pictures from the original American seller's auction. After I shut down the first scam (by telling eBay they would also be guilty of fraud if they allowed it to continue as there was already one bidder at £1000), the same con-man simply re-registered under a different name and tried again a few days later! The bloody nerve of the creep! Simon Quote
Stephen Posted January 19, 2007 Author Report Posted January 19, 2007 we should get a fee from Ebay...WTG keep up the good work. Quote
Deron Douglas Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 All these eBay frauds scare the hell out me. That's why I prefer to stick with dealers I can trust... or if I bid on ebay it's no more than I could loose at a casino or cheap hooker :-) ... did I say that? :-) I mean "book"! :-) But seriously, unless you know a lot about swords, you're really taking your chances. Guest Kendoman Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Stephen, I had lot of trouble with Showa22, though I have friends who honestly bought good things off him and dealt with him in fair andn square way. For instance, remember some month back in the summer he had a nice gunto Enomoto Sadayoshi dated 1943. I was high bidder and actually sold off a sword in my collection to raise the funds, then comes Yuzo and pulls it off. (I called him up and gave him an earfull and he said that he pulled it off BECAUSE the pictures were lousy!!!) I told him that he should relist it or give it to me as it going at 3000 alrady with 1 hour to go. Guess what; its in my friend's collection in Northern Cal. 'Guess what I found at the SF show John? A Sadayoshi.......... A real a----h---ole Quote
Stephen Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 Yes big money offers can change a fare and square dealers, hes usually on the up and up, but we dont know his side so i have to let it be. Quote
