I was told it's an officer's sword.  Perhaps Type 98?  My friend wants me to research and sell for him.  I would like to know the maker, the period and retail/wholesale values.  I normally would not ask for values, but this is not my sword.  In the past, you guys here have always come through for me.  I appreciate your knowledge, your

time and your willingness to educate me.  Let me know if you need other photos. Thank you.

Michael,

MEI looks like UJINAGA.

What do you think is known in public about wholesale prices, and do you know that these are calculated for bulk sales?

Please shoot all photos on a plain, dark, non-reflecting background for good contrast. Out-of-focus photos are not helpful.

Full NAKAGO photos without HABAKI, showing both MACHI, always oriented tip-upwards,would be good.
