zanilu Posted July 19 Report Posted July 19 Dear All I was in Kyoto at the end of May and by chance I stumbled in a sword display at the Kitano-tenmangu Shrine. One of the sword attracted my attention even thou I am more a tosogu guy rather than a nohonto one (I am more in using them than admiring them). The pictures are what they are, the lights were not the best and I had only my mobile phone: If you want you can try a little kantei trying to identify it, otherwise tell me and I will post the solution. YourBabyBjornBorg Posted July 19 Report Posted July 19 Agree about cropping the first photo! Also, this is such a trap...... (and that's not just because I wanted to go Yamashiro at first sight orz) 1 Quote

Lewis B Posted July 19 Report Posted July 19 (edited) Historically, it appears to have had quite a checkered history. Fascinating story. Certainly has a Heian, early Kamakura era sugata. You were lucky to see it as the Shrine has a big collection of swords. Edited July 19 by Lewis B 3 Quote
