Matsunoki Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Link doesn’t work for UK. Why not put images within thread? Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Might need to crop out all the bubble wrap etc., to get the image sizes down first... Quote
Scogg Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Hi Chris, welcome to the forum. Hope you don’t mind, but I’m gonna post your photos here after some cropping; so that more members can see your Dirk. Best of luck, -Sam 1 1 Quote
Matsunoki Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Have a look at this section of this website http://ohmura-study.net/971.html Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Your fittings put this in the Showa era. I can't speak to the making of the blade. If it's acid etched, then it's not likely to have been traditionally made. Maybe one of the guys that collect dirks can comment. Quote
Nazar Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Tsuka wrapping is made of celluloid, not the samegawa, therefore this dirk is of late production. It looks like someone tampered with the blade. Nakago jiri looks like someone used a hammer on it. I have seen dirk blade with unfinished fuller before, but this one looks like it was barely started before the task was abandoned. Quote

Is there such thing as "last ditch" when it comes to late productions dirks? Quote
Conway Posted June 29 Report Posted June 29 Hey Chris, Could you post more close ups of the blade? I don’t see signs of acid etching from the pics posted. 1 Quote
