Anyone know much about this sort of thing? Was given it as a gift a while ago and don’t know much except what’s obvious from the writing on the back that says “post-war Japan 1950s.”
 

it’s maybe 2.5”x2.5” in size roughly.

The face looks like that of Daikokuten (大黒天), one of the seven lucky gods. My guess, depending on material, would be a netsuke-like object sold as a souvenir.

sure, I think I can remove it. I *think* it’s wired down. I’ll look this evening.

Very cool, thank you all. I figured it wasn't worth much of anything based on how it appeared.

 

Is anyone interested in it? Just pay shipping and I'd be happy to send it to you. It was a gift so I don't want any profit or anything, but I'd like it to go somewhere it would be displayed or appreciated properly.
