cookiemonstah47 Posted December 4, 2025 Report Posted December 4, 2025 Greetings everyone, It's been a little while now since I got involved with Nihonto and wanted to discuss with you a dilemma I'm having. I want to have a "Nihonto Exhibit" at home. How do I start? I'm not new to the collecting world as I've been a collector of various things for the majority of my life (I'm 30 now). But I've come to appreciate the artistic aspect of Nihonto. I'm also currently attending a posh liberal arts school in the New England area, and we have a museum at school with rotating exhibits. (The source of this urge.) Sincerely, Khalid Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted December 4, 2025 Report Posted December 4, 2025 Welcome. Why don’t you give us your ideas first, Khalid? We do have several threads here showing off people’s personal displays, their stands, their cases, their accessories, their lighting, etc. Maybe take some time to look through those first and get some inspiration? 1 Quote
eternal_newbie Posted December 4, 2025 Report Posted December 4, 2025 If you want some display eye candy/inspiration, check these guys out: https://en.katana-case-shi.com/photo Definitely not for newbies as these displays can be more expensive than most low to mid-range blades, but you can get an idea of how the customers at the top end go about displaying their treasures. Hector Posted December 4, 2025 Report Posted December 4, 2025 I know we all want to display the things we love but these cases strike me as ringing a dinner bell for burglars and other opportunistic bottom dwellers. My wife's parents store the family swords in a safe that looks like something out of a bank heist movie! 3 Quote
eternal_newbie Posted December 4, 2025 Report Posted December 4, 2025 Yep, I also use a safe (a repurposed gun safe in this case). Keeps my swords safe and inquisitive visitors, and their kids, safe. 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted December 4, 2025 Report Posted December 4, 2025 Many people in Japan will bring things out only if they ‘like’ the visitor! 2 2 Quote
