SwordGuyJoe Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 You are correct. But the laughing smiles seem to suggest that it is impossible to have a gendai seki stamped blade. I owned one and if I took the time to surf through my past messages, I also posted a link to a blade with papers (I believe from NTHK if memory serves - and it seldom does ) by Kanezane or Kanemichi or someone similar. I would agree that 99% of the seki stamped blades that I have viewed online and in hand were showato, but not 100%. Quote
george trotter Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Almost certainly a showato IMHO. I don't think the mei is ICHIBUN either (a good gendaitosho) ...it looks like ENDO ICHIMONJI, a recorded WWII Seki tosho who made gunto swords between 1939-1945. This is probably an honest mis-description by the seller... Regards, George. Quote
