William Jennings Posted September 6 Author Report Posted September 6 @Nobody can you clarify? the owners name was “Togashi Hisajiro”? Is the surname Togashi or Hisajiro? From my reading, I believe Japanese use the surname first, and in America we use the surname last. and the city he lived in was “Oaza”? The reason I ask is because I got the Wakizashi cheap, with the intention of donating it and sending it back to Japan. Just trying to make sure I am understanding the address correctly. Which is the “city” and which is the province/district? What is Oaza? Quote
Nobody Posted September 6 Report Posted September 6 “岩船郡八幡村大字八□□ – Iwafune-gun, Yawata-mura, Oaza …” is an old address, and the details are unknown. The address is now included in the following area. Ref. Sanpoku, Niigata - Wikipedia Tohashi – family name Hisajiro - first name I am sure he is no longer living. I do not think that sending it back to Japan is a good idea, unless the blade is national treasure level. 2 Quote
