dvill_iaido Posted August 31 Report Posted August 31 It's on the older side. Documentary from 1969. Does anyone recognize the swordsmith? And his forging method, is it Hon-sanmai-gitae, or Shihōzume-gitae, or something else? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UxL1AxztNg&ab_channel=AeonVideo 1 Quote
dvill_iaido Posted August 31 Author Report Posted August 31 Actually, nevermind. At the end of the documentary it lists the swordsmiths as Nobuhide Horii, Tanetsugu Horii, and Yasuhide Watanabe. Quote

The images show that the smith is combining a billet of four parts, so it is HON SAN MAI construction. In the spoken text, it is described as SHIHOZUME. Similar to the above, but with an extra part in the back (MUNE). Quote
