aabderson Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Hello! Can anyone make out the signature? I’m wondering if it’s an authentic blade in some koshirae that I don’t recognize? Thanks in advance! Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted April 29 Report Posted April 29 The blade is interesting, but what do you think about those fittings? The saya is steel, so WWII era? but the fittings aren't. More like Chinese stuff, unless there were civil or tourist fittings that looked like this? Quote

cisco-san Posted May 21 Report Posted May 21 I would go fro 2nd gen Takekuni (from Marlus book) TAKEKUNI (武国), 2 nd gen., Kyōhō (享保, 1716-1736), Chikugo – “Echigo no Kami Minamoto Ason Kiyonaga” (越後守源朝臣清修), “Chikugo Kurume-jū Fujiwara Takekuni” (筑後久留米住藤原武国), “Chikugo Kurume-jū Shimosaka Takekuni” (筑後久留米住下坂武国), real name Shimosaka Sōichi (下坂総市), son of the 1st gen. Takekuni, in Shōtoku four (正徳, 1714) he went to Kyōto to receive the honorary title Echigo no Kami, thereupon he changed his name to Kiyonaga (清修), he also carved a 16-petalled chrysanthemum onto his tangs, mostly chū-suguha 1 Quote
