Newguymike Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 Good afternoon everyone, I am needing some help with identifying a sword smith. I’ve uploaded a photo of the tang and I will upload more of the sword when I can: but I wanted to start with the kanji first. Thanks. Quote
mecox Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 Mike, looks like “Izumi no Kami Kaneshige” (和泉守兼重) so would be in 1640's. He was in "Musashi" which was Edo now Tokyo. Izumi no Kami is a title. What is the length of blade (cutting edge)? Be good to see pics 2 1 Quote
Newguymike Posted April 18 Author Report Posted April 18 It should be a 21” blade and 31” overall length. I’ll post more photos when I can. Quote
Newguymike Posted April 22 Author Report Posted April 22 It’s a 21” blade and 31” overall. I’ve included more photos. Quote
Newguymike Posted April 23 Author Report Posted April 23 It’s a 21” blade and 31” overall. I’ve included more photos. Quote
Newguymike Posted April 23 Author Report Posted April 23 Doug, thanks for the response; but what about the rest of the blade’s condition? Would it be worth it to keep it given the damage to the handle and scabbard? Quote
