Ron M Posted May 23, 2024 Report Posted May 23, 2024 Good afternoon everyone, I came across a nice little 54cm elegant little katana/chiisa blade in shirasaya. I have attacheda pic..this one is interesting to say the least. It has a fabulous hada and sparkle. My blade is the lower of the two, the upper I got from the old muramasa.us website. regards Quote
Ron M Posted May 23, 2024 Author Report Posted May 23, 2024 🤣🤣, not what I was meaning overall. My apologies for not being clear 🙇♂️ I would like to note the hamon is also similar. And the numbering of the gunome seems similar. I am studying the Muramasa line and this blade seems to fit into that however it appears to be an unknown smith in the Masa line, from my study so far. Too many similarities to ignore. thank you for the it time. 1 Quote
Geraint Posted May 24, 2024 Report Posted May 24, 2024 Dear Ron. Please forgive me, I too am confused. Just what is it you are looking for? First question, are either of these two blades papered to Muramasa school? If not then speculation can run wild. Second question, when you say an unknown smith in the Masa line you are not suggesting that all smiths who use the masa kanji are in the same school, are you? Third question, when you show the nakago of a blade that does not, at least as far as we can see have typical Sengo nakago with the mei Masahiro why assume that it is Sengo school and not from another school altogether? Hoping for some clarity. All the best. P.S. some great information here, https://nihonto.com/muramasa/ Quote
Ron M Posted May 24, 2024 Author Report Posted May 24, 2024 Spoiler Hello, I am waiting for Dan to message me back about sending this to Shinsa in Orlando. It does have the correct shape, I will attach and Sugata pic. The first pic I posted here: the upper is a papered 2nd Gen Muramasa (#2 katana on old muramasa.us site) and the hamon of mine seems pretty much the same. I have many pictures of the hamon on this to share if you wish. It’s wonderful fun! I also understand there are several lines to follow here but I am doing my own research prior to its first Shinsa, wondering what will be the determination, etc etc. I have shared this with Ray Singer s well…wanting some opinions but not resisting anyone. Regards for your time and spirit. Quote
