Hi there,

Got this katana from a family member. I couldnt find any info about the blade stamps.

Sombody got a idea?

Toine, how long has the sword been in the family?

 

These swords only seem to show up in the Netherlands.  The character that you see is 治.  This is only the fourth sword that I am aware of.

Thanks for the links, Thomas, fascinating!  One of the quotes: "You have to understand that a lot of Japanese military items in The Netherlands come from the former colony Indie, now called Indonesia, witch was occupied by the Japanese during WW2. After the war people took a lot of souvenirs home."
