Ilovekatana Posted February 20, 2024 Report Posted February 20, 2024 I found an interesting sword on jauce. It is a Seki Kaneuji wakizashi(I think its a wakizashi, I'm not sure). What makes it interesting is its history as it was apparently given by Tokugawa Ieyasu himself. It includes both nbthk papers and papers supposedly from Kuki Ryuichi. According the the seller and supposedly the paper(I can't read Japanese and had to rely on google translate for the kuki ryuichi paper) the sword was initially given to Tadaoki Hosokawa by Tokugawa Ieyasu and was handed down the Hosokawa family for generations. It is a wakizashi (as written on the kanteisho) As fair as being gifted by Ieyasu, it is always best to use take descriptions with a grain of salt (a skeptical mind) when viewing swords being sold at the online auctions like Yahoo Japan. 1 Quote

Thank you for the tip. Also I do take descriptions like the one from this auction with a grain of salt as I have seen enough dubious claims on yahoo auctions through my time looking through it. Quote
