Ted Tenold Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Sorry to have to be blunt, but this is a reproduction/fake and not of Japanese origin. Click on the "Fake Swords" link at the top of our forum page and have a look. Also, per the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real name. Quote
KYLETHEPYRO Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 Well, that ends that debate then! Thank you! Sorry about the signature...noob on this site! -Kyle P- Quote
KYLETHEPYRO Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 But just out of curiosity, how could you tell so quickly? -Kyle P- Quote
sencho Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Kyle, Plenty of reading and study of genuine swords... then you will know immediately that this is a fake..... Have a look at this and see if you can spot the difference.... (click the picture to enlarge)... http://www.nihontoantiques.com/images/Blade%20(62)%20copy.jpg and then look at the mounts http://www.nihontoantiques.com/images/Mounts%20copy11211.jpg ...and then examine all of the other swords on http://www.nihontoantiques.com and the rest of the linked sites on the Message Board. I think you will be able to draw your own conclusions Cheers Quote
pcfarrar Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 The noh mask tsuba is a copy of an Echizen Kinai design. The Chinese must have copied from a book I have a real one by the nanadai. Quote
KYLETHEPYRO Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 So i guess that would explain the "7" stamped into the tang...this thing is folded and the tang is filed though... Kyle P o<<] Quote
