Reinier Posted February 5, 2024 Report Posted February 5, 2024 Hi guys, Can you guys give me your opinion on this katana? Why do you think it is Mumei? Thanks! Quote
Reinier Posted February 6, 2024 Author Report Posted February 6, 2024 The incorporated Habaki is quite unusual. I have never seen that before. A way to cut costs? Quote
Mark S. Posted February 6, 2024 Report Posted February 6, 2024 Why mumei? Debated here quite often with numerous theories. A little searching should provided some interesting reading, but if you are looking for specifics about why this particular blade isn’t signed, you are likely not going to get a definitive answer. Reinier Posted February 6, 2024 Author Report Posted February 6, 2024 Thanks. Yeah I know. I am interested in opinions. Quote
Nihonto student Posted February 6, 2024 Report Posted February 6, 2024 Dear Reinier, regarding the incorporated habaki it is not automatic that it was done to save money, in some cases can can be a good sign but in this case knowing the dealer and the blades he sells, I would say yes. Quote
Rivkin Posted February 6, 2024 Report Posted February 6, 2024 This seller specialized in Problematic blades with many kizu. You can get a good one, but you have to know what to look for. Its can be shinshinto/meiji blade and not really much of a collectible in all likeness. 3 Quote
