Slender katana translation and inscription help needed.

Need help with translating the name of the smith and the date this blade was made (August 1492 ?). Does anyone know what the inscriptions represent ?

明應七年八月日 = on a day in the eighth month of Meiō 7 (1498 CE)

The horimono on the blade may be Sanskrit characters.
