I recently bought a copy of "Tsuba Kanshiro" by Torigoye Kazutaro. What I would like to find out is just how many versions of the book there are?  My edition [yet to arrive] is listed as having 389 pages and was published in 1975, however another version published apparently the same year has 555 pages? There is an earlier book as well from 1965 with 365 pages. So just how many versions are there and what differences are there between them? Thanks for any information.

Hi Dale,

In my years of book selling I have seen only the 1964 and 1975 editions (your 4th link, to my site). The major difference between them is the addition of English in the later edition and there are differences between the pictured tsuba.

Thanks Grey, I just can't figure why there is a 555 page book and 389 page with the same title and both with English captions that seem to have been issued in 1975? The one I won on auction is the 389 page one which for its price was too good to pass up - I will just have to imagine what they put into the extra 166 pages, big enough difference to make up an extra edition really! I do love the quality of Japanese book binding and the paper used is usually superior to what we can get in the West - not to mention the care most owners put into keeping the books in great condition generally.
