kusunokimasahige Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Hiya all there is someone offering swords which look like hell on ebay for prices around 90 US$ etc.. Not Chinese, seller's name is Gatewaysolo one of his adverts: http://cgi.ebay.com/EDO-PERIOD-SAMURAI- ... 1|294%3A50 Anyone know about this one?? Any info appreciated.. KM Quote
Brian Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Yes. His website is even on the eBay listing. I think he is Armand or is that another seller? Japanese based seller, I think he goes under KimonoetObi too. Low to mid level stuff, you get what you pay for. This lot of stuff is particularly junk...some really atrocious stuff. Brian Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 Thank you !!! just wanted to be sure.. KM Quote
Kevin Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 That one is a Meiji period sword cane - post-Edict on carrying swords. They're not usually known for having good blades. They've since been glamorised by Zatoichi. You can run across such canes in much better condition - that one looks rusted to hell. I doubt it is recoverable, even if it were of sufficient quality to warrant trying to recover it. In short, I suspect that it has had it. Kevin Quote
Kevin Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Incidentally, if you want a ridiculous Ebay sword, try this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0340556364 A genuwine left-handed katana! :-) Kevin Quote
shan Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Is it possible that some of those badly corroded blades are in fact Grave goods? They loo like they have been in the ground for decades (or a bog or Marsh) shan Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 Dont know really, might be, there is one of his blades which has a terrible nakago .... grinded into a strange shape... well... sheer terror... He also has some nice stuff though i like his kimonos and haori's. KM Quote
