Weidas Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 hello everyone, i'd appreciate to get your opinion on this sword: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0336799938 quality of pictures are not to my liking and rises some suspicion . Mounts looks like more ornamented than for civilss in army employment.. Mei looks old... but i'm not an expert... thank you very much in advance for your help! Quote
Brian Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Not much to say. It is an earlier sword taken to war. Kuni-X Has a mediocre Soten tsuba and fair fittings, with some bad water drop rust marks or oil stains? Pretty much what you see there, and what he says it is. Lots of these wakizashi found in field covers and taken to war. Brian Quote
Weidas Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 thank you very much, Brian. i'm sorry but what is Kuni-X?... Quote
Brian Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Meaning I can see the smith's name starting (I think) with Kuni... but can't see the other kanji..so his name was Kuni...something. (If I am correct at a very quick glance) Brian Quote
Weidas Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 thank you, Brian i asked for more detailed photos from seller. Quote
Weidas Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 by the way, oil stains is permanent and can be removed with proper polishing or perhaps they may be removed while cleaning? Quote
