Hello all,

I own a sword signed Dewa Daijo Fujiwara Kunimichi. From my untrained eye the signature looks like it could be in the ballpark. As far as I know now there are 3 generations and every signed papered example I can find doesn’t specify which generation. Also see many variations of signatures. All Opinions are welcome. Pics in link.

I am not a specialist on shinto by a long-long shot, but I don't feel good about the blade.

Kunimichi was widely respected and faked in his time, this blade has Kambun sugata, which is not typical.

He is noted for jigane (non-shinto styled), here the jigane is tight and muted.

His nie is "sandy" and distinctive, here its also very muted.

Do you think this sword in the link looks similar to the sword I have? Also I’ve read Kunimichi did make Kanbun-shintô style swords later in his life.

With my limited knowledge the website Sho-Shin Horikawa school has information on the school and pictures and Nihonto.com
has a Nidai as it specifies it on the Kanteisyo not sure if there was a third generation the earlier ones were sometimes signed
with Rai hope this helps seeing some in hand they are a masterpiece.

Please don't take my words too seriously. I don't know much about shinto, I don't know how the second generation looks like.

First generation might have the same contours of the hamon as here, tends to be less straight, less tapered, i.e. Joji rather than Kambun sugata. Could have tight itame jigane as one of the options.

My main concern is the lack of nie. That's not typical.
