Dan tsuba Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 Hello all! So I am on vacation and bought this tsuba. I don't have my reference books with me. Can someone assist me with who the craftsman was and years active? Thank you. With respect, Dan Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 Dan, difficult to read! My attempt: TOSHINAGA (or SUKENAGA?). From the little that we can see, it looks like a cast TSUBA in bad condition. The iron around the NAKAGO-ANA seems to be brittle and not at all ductile which could be a hint. Quote
Dan tsuba Posted June 26, 2022 Author Report Posted June 26, 2022 Jean, Thank you so much for help with the translation. Maybe others will look at the post and better discern the crafstman, those are the best pictures I could get of the mei. Also, are you saying that this could be an Edo period cast tsuba? With respect, Dan Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 Hi Dan, if (big IF) I am correct that it is cast, then I would think it was indeed made in the very late EDO period. Quote
