Thekirsh Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Hi All, Has anyone heard of new rules regarding sword sales from the US of A ? The statement below was quoted by a seller on ebay " ALSO NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING DUE TO NEW USA EXPORT REGUALTIONS. WILL SHIP ONLY WITHIN THE USA. THANK YOU." Thanks Simon Quote
dhusker Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 The U.S. government does not forbid the export of swords UNLESS prohibited or regulated by the country of the recipient. If these conditions are present, permits or paperwork is required. At least that is my understanding of the law. Quote
Thekirsh Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 Thanks for that, I will get back to the seller and see what happens. Cheers Simon Quote
Rich S Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I suspect this is a new ebay rule rather than a US regulation. Ebay has gotten really shy (chicken) because of suits and/or threats there of from other countries that don't allow various types of swords, knives, etc. It's easier to just ban all export than deal with each country on a one to one basis. Can't prove this, just my speculation having seen how ebay has reacted to things in the past. Rich S Quote
