James Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 http://daimyou54eb.web.infoseek.co.jp/A2-916/index.htm Look at the photo of the kissaki. Quote
Nobody Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 That looks like only a reshaped broken tip of an ordinary shinogi-zukuri wakizashi. Quote
nagamaki - Franco Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Food for thought, it might not be the case here with this example, but let's say the boshi ran off a sword somewhere near the height of the shinogi if it were extended straight off, then, one solution would be to bring the mune and tip of the sword down to meet the boshi where it still exists. Of course that would create a pointed sword which looks like the one in the photos, but at least the tip would be sufficiently functional once again. Quote
Jacques Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Hi, The one I was talking about, quiet different. Never seen this kind of blade, i would like to get some details on it. Quote

Jacques Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Hi, General Sugata as Kingin Densou Karatachi, *but* this one has Sori. Humm, i'm a litlte bit dubious, Kinginden So-no karatachi is a koshirae name for chinese tachi style. Kinginden means gold and silver. Quote
Nobody Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 This is a Kin-gin-den kazari no Kara-tachi (金銀鈿荘唐大刀) of Shosoin (正倉院). Ref. http://www.mokuzai-tonya.jp/05bunen/zui ... tou35.html Quote
Guido Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I have deleted a few posts by Carlo (plus the usual collateral damage) per his request - not that there was much to delete since he had edited his replies into cyberhell already anyhow. I don't feel comfortable to prune a thread that is actually quite interesting, but there was - yet again - the very real potential of this becoming another personal feud. Sooo ... no more sniping, please stay on topic. Quote
