Hello Members,

Could anyone help identifying this tanto please. Period/school ?

The kashira/fuchi and stuba seem to have silver dots on the iron. Any info on this?

The specs:

Mune type: Ihori
Nagasa: 21.1 cm
Nakago: 8.6cm
Moto-Haba: 2.68mm
Moto-Kasane: 4.7mm

Thanks and regards,

Bas

The mounts are okay... could be Higo ... looks like overcleaned iron with brass inlays. I like them.

The blade is a Tsunagi ... either older piece of a broken sword reshaped or a post Edo Periode piece. Nothing you want to put any money into.

Correct, it sits in the tsuka by friction. Probably a marriage.
Is there a way to lock it in a good way without damaging the nakago?

Glue :) ... you can insert a wood / bambo stripe in the Tsuka so it gets stuck better ... or a whole can be drilled :) it would be important to determine if this piece has a real Hamon. It is obviously folded steel but I am somewhat doubtfull if it has a true temper line. Maybe you can show it to some folks at a meeting or similar event.
