John A Stuart Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Hi All, This may be of interest for those in the area, Ontario, Canada. I received this a couple of days ago. I did a similar course in Japan and I learned a lot doing it. Although this course does not use tamagahane it might be beneficial to a better understanding of what goes on in a forge. John Hello sword enthusiast, SDK Supplies is pleased to run the annual Swordsmithing Course from June 9-13 in Floradale, Ontario, Canada. This is a 'hands-on' course where participants will have the opportunity to hand forge and shape a tanto (knife) blade from 1050 steel. They will also heat treat their blades using traditional clay coat hardening/tempering, and also do some finish stoning. No previous experience is necessary for this course. More information on the course can be found at this link: http://www.seidokai.ca/gsjsa_smithing.htm If you would like further information, feel free to contact us.
