kyushukairu Posted June 7, 2017 Report Posted June 7, 2017 Does anyone recognise the design of this tsuba and are able to place it into a particular school? Although my initial thought would be Choshu/Bushu, the rim is reminiscent of an Owari piece, in that it is almost square and has prominent tekkotsu Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 7, 2017 Report Posted June 7, 2017 Kyle, the style looks indeed like CHOSHU work while the squarish MIMI might suggest OWARI. But the design lacks the symmetry you often find in OWARI TSUBA, and the iron is not close to the latter. In fact, it seems to be quite coarse like a cast one. As it has obviously been used, I am interested to see close-ups of the TEKKOTSU. Perhaps it is a IAITO TSUBA? Quote
